Despite a soggy and windy start, the skies cleared and the scoreboard lit up in the second game of the youth dek hockey season this past Saturday.
A strong showing by goalie Thomas Reilly of the Penguins kept a lid on the score throughout regulation time. And though Jacob Douglas, also of the Penguins, recorded his the first hat-trick of the season, a well-rounded surge by the Green Hornets kept the pressure on. In the end, a 4-4 score led to the first shootout of the season.
The shootout battle pitched as senior and junior shooters tried their luck against Reilly. But it remained undecided until the final shooter, five year old Jeremiah, scored his first ever goal with a five-hole shot to clinch the win for the Green Hornets.
The battle continues this coming Saturday, January 31 at 9:00am.
