Youth Dek Hockey Returns Sep 10!

It’s the height of summer!  Pool parties, fireworks, grilling, and…  hockey???  Yes!  This hot, dry summer is flying by, and youth hockey will soon be back in Flagler County.  But don’t worry, there will be no ice or ice skates in sight.

Dek Hockey, also known as Street Hockey, is a running game played similar to ice hockey with the exception that body checking is not allowed. Running, stick handling, passing and shooting are the basic qualities which provide an exciting and fast game.  Flagler Youth Dek Hockey games are played on the all-weather rink at the Flagler Youth Center.

The Fall Youth Dek Hockey league begins September 10 at the rink at Flagler Palm Coast High School, in front of the Youth Center at the corner of SR100 and Bulldog Dr.  Games begin at 8:45am sharp.  Registration will take place on the 10th, but you can help expedite the business and get down to hockey faster by downloading the registration form from our Documents page.

See the printable announcement flyer here.

We look forward to seeing all the familiar faces, and many new ones this fall!

Youth Week 11 – Photos!

Hello Flagler Youth Hockey families!  I hope fun was had by all today during our week 11 matchups.  There were some tough battles out there today which lead to some great photo ops!

I truly hope everyone’s child is represented in this batch.  Please let me know if you’d like more in-game photos of your child and I will do my very best to accommodate, but please remember it’s often situational (where is the play, how many backs are turned toward the camera, where am I… get out of the way!)

Thanks to all who came out for another fun week!  Next week is our last regular season matchup, then April 30 is our season wrap-up.  Do come prepared as always for that day.  More information will follow.

Thanks again,

Coach Brian

Youth Schedule – The Dreaded Copy/Paste Error

Good morning FYH parents and players,

A correction has been made to the Youth Dek schedule.  On the original schedule, the final two weeks were both incorrectly displayed as Week 12 April 23.  This was a result of the ever-common copy/paste error.  I apologize for any inconvenience.

In the corrected version, our final Week 13 and season party are Saturday, April 30.  We look forward to seeing everyone on this final day of fun, food, awards, and… Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodgeball!

Parents Versus Kids

It’s back!   Our Saturday Youth dek hockey will feature a classic rematch as the kids take on the parents for bragging rights and glory!

Parents,  please come prepared to join us in this challenge.   Running shoes,  gloves of any kind, and a willingness to battle your kid for the ball are recommended.

We look forward to another great Saturday,  and another chance for parents and kids to enjoy a fun activity together.

Youth Roundup – Week 4

Making The Most Of It

Updated stats are available here!

On a weekend of science fairs, out of town tournaments, illness, and other events, the Youth Dek League persevered to provide some fun challenges on a beautiful Florida winter day. With two big goalies, Dillon and Jonathan D, standing between the pipes, scoring was sure to prove a challenge. And so it was, but before the coaches provided a new challenge, Austin would record a hat trick and little-big man Gabe would record his first two goal game thanks to some determination and a booming one-timer!

But before calling it a day, we brought back the players and coacheds free-for-all for a challenging first-team-to-two match. It was a see-saw battle, but showing some clear determination to win, the Red team prevailed!

Next week, it’s back to three teams and three games. Check the schedule, and we’ll look forward to seeing you all out there!
